Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us stop. Written to be read rather than to be survived.

Before launch: replace the bracketed placeholders in § 1 with the registered entity, address and Information Officer, and have this reviewed by a lawyer against POPIA, the GDPR and the UK GDPR. Do not submit to the App Store or Play Store until that is done.
1. Who we are
ANTE is operated by [REGISTERED ENTITY NAME] (registration number [REG NO]), of [REGISTERED ADDRESS], South Africa. In this policy "we", "us" and "ANTE" mean that company, and "you" means the person using the ANTE app or this website.
We are the responsible party (under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act) and the data controller (under the EU and UK GDPR) for the information described here. Our Information Officer can be reached at privacy@ante-game.com.
2. What we collect
2.1 If you play without an account
You can play the daily run without giving us anything that identifies you. In that mode we hold a randomly generated device identifier, the seeds you have played, your scores, and your run input logs. None of it is linked to a name or an email address.
2.2 If you create an account

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, we receive only Apple's relay address and cannot see your real one.
2.3 Collected automatically
- Device and app data — platform, OS version, app version, device model, language and region, and a device clock offset used to keep the daily boundary honest.
- Crash and performance reports — stack traces and the state of the app at the moment it failed.
- Product analytics — which screens you opened and which actions you took, tied to a pseudonymous identifier rather than to your name.
- Server logs — IP address, timestamp and request path, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
2.4 Advertising
Free players see one advertisement after the results screen and may choose to watch a rewarded video. Our advertising partners may process a resettable advertising identifier to select and measure those ads. On iOS we ask for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt first, and if you decline you will still see ads — just less relevant ones. ANTE Club subscribers see no advertising at all.
2.5 This website
The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage, and it uses a short-lived session cookie during email verification on the contact form. That is all.
3. Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
4. Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run ANTE, each under contract and only for the purpose described:
- Cloud hosting and database — storing accounts, runs and leaderboards.
- Apple and Google — app distribution, sign-in, payments and subscription status.
- Crash reporting and analytics providers.
- Advertising partners — for free players only.
- Email delivery — verification codes and support replies.
The current named list of processors is published at privacy@ante-game.com on request. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Cross-border transfers. Some of these providers process data outside South Africa, including in the EU and the United States. Where that happens we rely on the transfer mechanisms POPIA section 72 and the GDPR permit, such as standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it

After you delete your account, your scores may remain on historical leaderboards in anonymised form — a score with no name attached — because removing them would rewrite other players' results.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you, in a portable format.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and the personal information attached to it.
- Restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent for analytics or personalised advertising, at any time, from Settings → Privacy in the app.
Use Settings → Privacy in the app, the account deletion page, or email privacy@ante-game.com. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge for it.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to the South African Information Regulator, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EU or the UK.
7. Children
ANTE is rated for players aged 12 and over and is not directed at younger children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 (or the higher age of digital consent where you live). If you believe a child has given us their information, write to privacy@ante-game.com and we will delete it. Accounts identified as belonging to minors do not receive personalised advertising.
8. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS and data is encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and is logged. We do not store passwords for accounts created through Apple or Google, and we never see or store your payment card details — those stay with the store.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.
9. Changes to this policy
When we change something material we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to play after that means you accept the updated policy.
